3D Printer Kit

The 3D printing technology originated in 1986 but got popular in 1990. In the past years, this amazing technology came out of the phase of manufacturing and engineering and has gone more in the industrial use or home use with 3D printer kit. Also, it is more important in the designing and marketing world these days. You can develop 3D object in just a few hours with a 3D printer kit. Another name of this technology is additive manufacturing.

Benefits of 3D printer kits

The benefits of 3D printer kits make this technology ever best. some benefits are:

  • Ability to print different structures and shapes. The 3D printing technology allows you to print all the sorts of shapes you want. Unlike traditional process, you do not have to depend on the cutting and molding features. You can create anything that you have imagined with more structure strength. It works in a way that it takes the practical designs, converts them into flat models, and then develops layers of the model until it made.
  • You can use different materials together. When you use traditional process, you are not allowed to combine different materials because of the high cost and stubborn physical properties that make it impossible to mix different raw materials. The technology of 3D printing is based on plastic and therefore with this, you can combine several raw materials together. Many companies now provide different finishes made out of a combination of the various raw materials.
  • No or less wastage. The best benefit of this technology is that there is minimal waste. Typically, the process of making plastic and metal objects includes many lost materials. However, with additive manufacturing, there is less consumption of energy and hence less waste.
  • You can also create other things with 3D printing, and those are jewelry, footwear, and many other things.
  • The finished object is very much lighter in comparison with products made by machine, and this helps you save money on the costs. The manufacturing is less costly. The technology of 3D printing helps the companies save a considerable amount of cost reducing 80 percent of their entire production cost. Companies achieve that value by the reduced packaging and shipping costs related to less costly raw materials. Overall, it makes the companies earn more and more revenues.
  • The production gets faster and faster. The speed of 3D printing is faster than the traditional printing methods. With 3D printer kits, you get the advantage of creating objects many times faster, and this saves the time and money. Within just a few hours, your object is printed and that even in the perfect condition. This means more and more production at a faster pace. The faster production makes it easier for you to make more and more models and helping you with the better productivity.

The benefits of this equipment are innumerable and invaluable and definitely, become a reason for your gain in the future.

Start 3D Printing

Normally, 3D printing is something reserved for the nerdy. If you want to start 3D printing ventures, read this article.

Some years ago, the average citizen had no idea what 3D printing is. This fact has changed nowadays, and now we are all be able to have a 3d printer in our house. The applications of 3D printers are mind-boggling.

Some questions beginners to the 3D printing world are:

  • What exactly is 3D printing?
  • Why is 3D printing useful?
  • Who uses 3D printers?
  • What do other people do with 3D printers?
  • Is 3D printing expensive?
  • What expertise is required to use a 3D printer?
  • What software do I need to make a 3D model?
  • Can I get someone to design or 3D print an object for me?

That’s a good start. Let’s begin.

What exactly is 3D printing?

3D printing is just like it sounds: machines that print 3D objects. Right now there are small 3d printers that you can buy, and learn how to use them to 3D print things yourself.

Why is 3D printing useful?

There are too many to list separately, so it’s better just to focus on a handful of the larger things people use 3D printing for:

  • Product development
  • Replacement parts
  • Creative projects

In general is about saving money with prototyping all kinds of things (from engineering equipment to toys)

Who uses 3D printers?

  • Designers
  • Engineers
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Households
  • Schools and universities

What do other people do with 3D printers?

The applications right now are pretty impressive.

Is 3D printing expensive?

Here are some of the options I’ve found:

The most expensive one is almost $3,300.

But the cheapest one on there is $399. That isn’t that unreasonable, but I still bit expensive. Some options are:

Printrbot

So, it depends on how much money that is to you. Obviously, the cheaper one is going to be less quality. After reading a bunch of reviews, I’ve decided that the MakiBox A6 LT could be a good option for a birthday present. There are some bad reviews, but good enough to start and get your hands on a 3D printer.

What expertise is required to use a 3D printer?

You should be able to do higher level things on a computer (things like higher level computer programming, 3D modeling programs, video editing software, etc.).

You have to try 3D modeling software (3ds Max, Maya, Blender, Poser, etc). Basically, with no outside help or no idea how to attack learning these types of things you should start with youtube tutorials and videos. If you don’t know where to start learning, those are great resources. You should tackle 3D modeling programs to hands on a 3D printer.

It is becoming easier and more universal the 3D printing world, so youtube tutorials are becoming easier to follow up. If you fear you are not smart sufficient to use 3D printers, the modeling software, or the scanning software, then start with “beginners 3D printer tutorials” on Youtube.

What software do I need to make a 3D model?

Just like every other task using a computer, there are several tools for the process of making creating a model. Here is a list with many different options:

Can I get someone to design or print an object for me?

Yes, there are lots of services offering many solutions for helping you create or print something on a 3D printer. You can google for companies or freelancers.

If that’s not enough, this sleek 3D printer undergoes 8 hours of testing before it even leaves the factory.

As you can see, the QIDI Technology dual extruder desktop 3D printer has many advantages too, so you should careful consider both alternatives in your next purchase.

If you want an amazingly high-quality 3D printer then I highly recommend this one, it may not be a Flashforge, but it is precisely the same as the Flashforge 3D printer Creator Pro and perhaps even slightly better.

Flashforge vs. QIDI

Flashforge (new model)
Flashforge (new model)

The Flashforge and the QIDI printers are very similar, both being Replicator clones.

The primary difference between the two models is the price. The FlashForge is more expensive than the QIDI.

Both builds have sturdy metal frames and use similar components.

An insignificant difference between the two printers is the motherboard.

Although the boards are quite similar, which are both variations of the MightyBoard architecture, the FlashForge uses an Atmega 2560, and the QIDI uses the 1280 version. There is no performance difference between the two chips. 2560 simply has a larger flash size which is a nice feature but does not have any advantages over 1280.

Another insignificant difference is that the FlashForge boasts some colour  LEDs that put on a light show. This fact is not exactly what one would call a deal breaker for the serious 3D printer purchase.

QIDI 3D Printer (back)
QIDI 3D Printer (back)

The QIDI has 1″ diameter spool holders which will fit just about every filament spool.

FlashForge, on the other hand, wanted to use a large spool holder that will only fit spools with a bore hole over 2 inches. That can pose a significant problem if you like to use Hatchbox filaments as I do. You could always print your spool holders if you wanted to use anything smaller than this large 2-inch bore.

Another distinct advantage the QIDI 3D printer has over the FlashForge 3D printer creator pro is the acrylic side panels and metal back.

FlashForge opted to go with Black solid styrene panels on the sides and the back. The additional light provided by the transparent acrylic panels is a distinct advantage and lets visual inspection proceed without error.

QIDI support is exceptional. I had a few issues with mine, and they were extremely responsive and seemed to care genuinely about my problems. I can’t say I’ve ever had a better experience.
